Our cuisine, our story
Chef Franco Favaretto: a lifetime devoted to Venetian cuisine and the tradition of Norwegian stockfish.

From the family ice cream shop to fine cooking
Franco Favaretto was born in Mestre in 1961 and took his first steps in the restaurant trade right in the family premises in Via Gazzera Alta, where his grandfather Pio, known to everyone as "Nino Vioin", once ran an artisan ice cream shop.
Growing up among the flavours of the lagoon tradition, he turned that bond into a vocation. Together with his wife Paola he now runs Trattoria Baccalàdivino, a landmark for lovers of stockfish and good food.
The choice of ingredients comes from a direct link with the Lofoten Islands in Norway and a careful selection of the finest stockfish. For the chef, salt cod is a journey that links Norway to Venice, with centuries of history behind it.
